- Refresh the catalog. Open Promo Proof from Shopify admin. Choose Refresh catalog. Active product variants and their item costs load; gift cards are excluded. Missing costs stay unknown.
- Build a basket. Search for a product, select it, and choose Add. Set quantities. You can override a cost for the scenario without changing Shopify.
- Shape the offer. Enter a product discount, up to two order percentages, and a fixed order discount. Product discounts apply first; both order percentages use the same remaining subtotal.
- Check your expenses. Replace the example payment fees, shipping costs, shipping charge, packaging cost, and target margin with your own assumptions. An optional free-shipping threshold is evaluated after all discounts.
- Review the breakdown. Contribution is revenue less item costs, fees, shipping and packaging. Revenue includes shipping collected. Missing costs block the estimate; a zero-revenue margin is undefined.
- Save or export. Save campaign snapshot preserves the entire basket. Saved campaigns → Open snapshot reopens historical assumptions; CSV exports those values. Delete removes that saved snapshot.
Example
A $100 basket with a 20% product discount becomes $80. Two order discounts of 10% and 20% subtract $8 and $16, leaving $56 before shipping. This assumes those discounts are eligible to combine. It is not a live checkout verification.
Limits and exclusions
One currency per scenario; 5,000 active variants per sync; 50 basket lines; 50 saved snapshots. Use tax-exclusive prices. Taxes, duties, advertising, returns, multi-currency, market price lists, subscriptions, Buy X Get Y and actual carrier quotes are excluded.
Troubleshooting
If sync fails, check product and inventory permissions and retry. A failed sync keeps the previous catalog. If a sync is already running, wait up to two minutes. For a currency change, refresh the catalog and start a new scenario; historical snapshots keep their currency. If the shop exceeds the sync limit, contact support rather than relying on a partial catalog.
Test low-value, typical, low-margin, and shipping-threshold baskets. A passing sample does not prove every customer order is profitable.
